Blackburn Buccaneer
The Buccaneer first came into service with the Royal Navy as a carrier borne aircraft in 1962. As well as in an anti-shipping role, the Buccaneer was capable of delivering nuclear weapons. When the RN retired the Buccaneer in 1978, the RAF took it on as a low level strike aircraft. It became the S.2B with updated RAF avionics, carried Martel missiles and had an extra fuel tank in its bomb-bay. The low-level performance comes from its robust and durable airframe and the low speed capability is due to boundary layer technology that bled high pressure air from the engine to give the wings more lift. 208 was the last RAF Squadron to operate the 'Bucc', which was disbanded in 1994.

No.43 Squadron RAF 'The Fighting Cocks'
No.43 Squadron was formed in Stirling, Scotland, in 1916 as part of the Royal Flying Corps. During the Great War the squadron operated Sopwith Strutters, Camels and Snipes. In 1926 the squadron flew the Gloster Gamecock earning its nickname 'The Fighting Cocks'. Siskins and Hawker Fury's were the squadrons aircraft leading up to World War 2. Hurricanes and Spitfires followed prior to the jet age which saw the Gloster Meteor entering service. Hawker Hunters followed, then the Phantom, finishing off with the F.3 Tornado as the squadron disbanded in 2009. This design has been given a deliberate aged and 'weathered' appearance

The volunteer group joined the Republic of China Air Force in 1941 to help defend China from the invasion of Japan. Under the command of Claire Lee Chennault the group operated the Curtiss P-40B Warhawk with Chinese Air Force markings. The earliest combat action was seen at the defence of Rangoon in December 1941. The MR 2s replaced the Fairey Gannet in 1972 and was then re-designated as the AEW II with the installation of the AN/APS-20 radar. The Shackleton was operated by No. 8 Squadron, based at RAF Lossiemouth. The 12 AEWs were given names from the Magic Roundabout and The Herbs TV series. The Nimrod AEW3 was to replace the Shackleton in 1991, but when the project was cancelled the Boeing E-3D Sentry was ordered.
