Hawker Typhoon Designed by Sydney Camm, the Typhoon entered service in 1941 with the intention of replacing the Hurricane, but with various problems its continued service was doubtful. Later in the war the aircraft found its true role when up against the Luftwaffe's FW 190 and when armed with 20mm Hispano auto cannons it became a formidable ground attack aircraft.

Hunting Percival Aircraft Ltd Percival Aircraft Co. was formed by Edgar Percival in 1933. Originally based in Gravesend, the company moved to Luton Airport in 1936. Percival joined the Hunting Group in 1944. Eventually in 1960 the company became part of the British Aircraft Corporation. Many aircraft were manufactured including the Gull, Proctor, Provost and Pembroke. This design has a deliberate weathered and aged look.

Invasion Stripes In May 1944 the new marking scheme was approved by Air Chief Marshall Sir Trafford Leigh-Mallory. Thousands of aircraft were to be involved in the invasion so the distinctive stripes reduced the risk of being attacked by friendly forces. The stripes were painted only on fighters, PR aircraft, troop carriers and light bombers. As Operation Overlord progressed the stripes appeared only on the undersurfaces to avoid air attack whilst on the ground. Stripes were used again in later conflicts such as Korea and the operation in the Suez. This design features a weather worn insignia and Overlord stencil.
