Fairey Gannet The Gannet first flew in 1949 and made the first deck landing of a turboprop aircraft on HMS Illustrious. The first FFA Gannet squadron was 826 NAS on board HMS Eagle in the early warning and anti-submarine role, but by the mid 60s the Gannet switched to electronic counter measures and mail and light cargo supply. The Gannet was exported to many countries including the Royal Australian Navy, Indonesia and West Germany.

Flycatcher - Long-sleeve T-shirt £27.00

Fairey Flycatcher Built at the Fairey's Hayes factory in 1923, the Flycatcher entered service with No.402 Flight of the Fleet Air Arm. Flown from British carriers such as HMS Courageous, the Flycatcher became a versatile fighter that developed tactics that would be used later in World War II. The Flycatcher was operational with the Home, Mediterranean, East Indies and China Fleets.

McDonnell Douglas F-4 FGR2 RAF Phantom After the cancellation of the TSR2 project, the Royal Air Force had to find a replacement for the Canberra and Hunter types. Initially the F-111 was considered but the option of ordering the Phantom was taken with alteration to engines, airframes and avionics. The first RAF Phantom entered service in 1969 with the formation of 6 Squadron at Coningsby. The FGR2 took on the roles of Close air support, tactical strike, reconnaissance and air defence. The Phantom was withdrawn from service in 1992.

'Fear the Bones' This design celebrates the famous US Navy Strike Fighter Squadron, the VFA 103, otherwise known as the 'Jolly Rogers'. VF103 was formed in 1953, equipped with the FG1D Corsair, then F4B Phantoms, F-14 Tomcats in the early 80s and now operates the FA-18F Super Hornet. The design is Flyingraphics's interpretation of the well known skull and crossbones insignia and the motif 'Fear the Bones'.

Fairey Aviation Company Limited Charles Richard Fairey and Ernest Oscar Tips formed Fairey Aviation in 1915 after leaving Short Brothers. In 1960 Fairey merged with Westland Aircraft. Many aircraft were manufactured including the Flycatcher, Swordfish, Gannet and Rotodyne. This design has a deliberate weathered and aged look.

General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark The F-111 entered service in 1967 as an interdictor, fighter-bomber and strategic bomber. The F-111 pioneered new technologies such as variable-sweep wings, afterburning turbo fan engines and terrain following radar for low-level tasks at high speed. Having served in Vietnam and the Gulf war the Aardvark retired in 1996. The Royal Australian Air Force continued to use the aircraft up until 2010.

General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon The USAF took delivery of the F-16 in 1978 and the aircraft has proved to be one of its most successful fighters with many variants produced for export. The US Airforce Reserve and Air National Guard also operate the F-16. Eventually the F-16 will be replaced by the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lighting II.

Vought F4U Corsair The Corsair was designed to operate off Carriers and entered service in 1944, quickly developing a fearsome reputation with the Japanese. The Corsair also served in the Korean war and the French colonial wars of the 1950s.

La Fayette Escadrille The La Fayette Escadrille N124 was formed in 1916 during the First World War. Part of the Aéronautique Militaire, the Squadron was made up mostly of American volunteer pilots, the name coming from the Marquis de Lafayette. The Escadrille adopted the bust of Chief Sitting Bull as its emblem. Famous pilots from the First War include Kiffin Rockwell, Victor Chapman and Norman Prince. This design has been given a deliberate aged and 'weathered' appearance.

The English Electric Company Limited Formed in 1918, English Electric was the conglomeration of five business making munitions, armaments and aeroplanes during World War I. Best known for electric motors and transformers for the rail industry the business expanded into consumer electronics, reactors, guided missiles and aircraft. The company is most famous for producing two aircraft; the Canberra and Lightning jets.

Whittle E.28/39 - Long-sleeve T-shirt £30.00

Gloster E28/39 The Whittle first flew on 15th May 1941. The Whittle, also known as the Pioneer or G.40 was Britain's first jet engined aircraft created for the Air Ministry to test Frank Whittle's new jet propulsion technology. This experimental aircraft led to the development of the Meteor.

de Havilland Vampire The Vampire first flew on 20th September 1943. The Vampire entered service just months after the end of WWII, operated by the Royal Air Force as an interceptor. The type saw service in the Suez, Malaysia and Rhodesian Bush war.

Whirlwind Fighter - Long-sleeve T-shirt £27.00

Westland Whirlwind The Whirlwind entered service with the Royal Air Force as a heavy fighter in 1940. It was the most heavily armed and fastest fighters at the time and was used for ground attack missions over France, being particularly good at destroying locomotives. Due to engine and manufacturing problems the aircraft was replaced by the Hawker Typhoon in 1943.

Saab JA37 Viggen The Saab JA37 Viggen first entered service in c1979 and was solely operated by the Swedish Air Force, retiring in 2005. This type was the first canard design produced in quantity and the most advanced fighter in Europe until the introduction of the Panavia Tornado. V Force - Long-sleeve T-shirt £30.00

V Force V-Force is made up of the Vickers Valiant, Handley Page Victor and Avro Vulcan. These aircraft were chosen for the role of the UK's nuclear deterrent for their quick reaction capability and manouverability. The Vulcan was best known for its ability to get into the air rapidly and gain altitude at high speed. During the Cold War the RAF worked with NATO as part of a 'one-two' attack strategy. The V Bombers would destroy Warsaw Pact targets such as airbases and command centres ahead of the US SAC nuclear strikes. Most aircrews considered this ultimate sortie as a 'one-way' trip!

Valkyrie - Long-sleeve T-shirt £27.00

North American XB-70 Valkyrie The Valkyrie was the prototype for the B-70 nuclear bomber capable of long-range sorties travelling at Mach 3 at 70,000ft. The programme for the B-70 was cancelled so the aircraft was given to research into high-speed long-duration flight with the programme finally ending in 1969. The last remaining Valkyrie is on display in the National Museum of the United States Air Force near Dayton, Ohio.

Vickers Valiant XD875 The Valiant started service in 1955 at RAF Gaydon. It was the first RAF aircraft to drop a nuclear bomb during a test at Maralinga, Australia. It became one of the the UK's ultimate deterrent - VForce. XD875 was the last airframe to come off the production line.

U-2 - Long-sleeve T-shirt £27.00

Lockheed U-2 'Dragon Lady' World War II taught the US military the value of strategic aerial reconnaissance. The Air Force commissioned the Beacon Hill Report that suggested an aircraft was needed that would carry advanced optics and operate at an altitude of over 70,000ft. Clarence Kelly Johnson from Lockheed designed a jet powered glider, the CL282. At this time the design was recommended to the CIA, so in 1955 the aircraft was re-designated the U-2 and was flown during the Cuban crisis, Vietnam and throughout the Cold War. The U-2 remains in service with NASA and the USAF.
