Avro Vulcan Type-698 B2 Bomber XM607 took part in Operation Black Buck during the Falklands conflict in 1982. As XM598 had technical problems, it was replaced by XM607, which performed the first sortie on Port Stanley Airport, piloted by Flight Lieutenant Martin Withers. XM607 undertook 3 more sorties right up until June 12.

No.45 Squadron - The Flying Camels Formed in 1916, as part of the Royal Flying Corps, the squadron started service life equipped with Sopwith Strutters. Between the wars No. 45 flew Vickers Vernon bomber - transports mainly in the Middle East, tasked with ground support and mail services. Through the years the squadron participated in the North African campaign of WWII, the Malayan Emergency, Indonesia and as a shadow squadron during the cold war. From the early 90s onwards 45 Squadron became a multi-engined unit, now operating Embraer Phenom T1s. This design has been given a deliberate aged and 'weathered' appearance.

No.56 Squadron - The Firebirds No.56 Squadron is one of the RAFs senior squadrons with many battle honours with notable airmen including James McCudden and Albert Ball among the ranks. In the 1960s the Squadron had an aerobatic team called the Firebirds, consisting of nine Lightning F.1As. Phantom FGR.2s and Tornado F3s followed as its operational aircraft. 56 Squadron now serves as the Air Command and Control Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Operational Evaluation Unit. This design has been given a deliberate aged and 'weathered' appearance.

XI Squadron Formed by the Royal Flying Corps, XI Squadron was the first fighter unit. Starting with the Vickers Gunbus at Netheravon, the squadron progressed to Bristol Fighters towards the end of the First War. Aircraft used between the wars include Westland Wapitis and Hawker Harts. At the outbreak of WW2 the squadron deployed to Singapore, armed with the Blenheim. The jet age added the Vampire, Venom and Javelin to the squadron's inventory. The Lightning and Tornado F3 followed with the Typhoon now currently operated by XI Squadron. This design has been given a deliberate aged and 'weathered' appearance.

Vickers - Armstrongs Wellington The Wellington first flew in 1936 and entered service with the RAF in 1938 as a medium bomber and anti-submarine aircraft. Its distinctive geodetic construction, designed by Barnes Wallis, gave the bomber a greater chance of surviving anti-aircraft flak. Early in the war, Bomber Command used the Wellington for night raids before the Lancaster and Stirlings took on the role and the Wellington went on to anti-submarine duties. Just over 11,000 of these aircraft were built.

Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird The Blackbird is the creation of the Lockheed 'Skunk Works' division. A high altitude, Mach 3+ strategic reconnaissance aircraft, the SR-71 was truly untouchable. Any threats were simply outrun and evaded, 12 were lost to accidents and none to enemy action. The aircraft entered service in 1966 and was finally retired by NASA in 1999.
