Westland Whirlwind
The Westland Whirlwind is the British built version of the Sikorsky S-55/H-19 Chickasaw. This type first flew in 1953 and entered service with the Royal Navy in 1954. 848 Naval Air Squadron was the first to operate the Whirlwind in the utility and search and rescue roles. The Royal Air Force and French Navy took on the type in the late 1950s. The RAF search and rescue operated the Whirlwind in a distinctive yellow livery. The Wessex and Sea King eventually replaced the Whirlwind.

The Sea Fury entered service in 1947 and was used during the Korean war and during the attempted invasion of Cuba in 1961. This graphic tshirt displays roundels used by RN Fleet Air Arm, Army Air Corps and the Royal Air Force through the ages. Initially the Union Flag was painted on early combat aircraft, but roundels were used to avoid confusion with the German Iron Cross. The Royal Flying Corps started using the blue outer and red centre roundel in December 1914. The roundel evolved over the years and varied according to the role of the aircraft it was painted on.
