Blackburn/Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer The Buccaneer first came into service with the Royal Navy as a carrier borne aircraft in 1962. As well as in an anti-shipping role, the Buccaneer was capable of delivering nuclear weapons. When the RN retired the Buccaneer in 1978, the RAF took it on as a low level strike aircraft. It became the S.2B with updated RAF avionics, carried Martel missiles and had an extra fuel tank in its bomb-bay. The low-level performance comes from its robust and durable airframe and the low speed capability is due to boundary layer technology that bled high pressure air from the engine to give the wings more lift. 208 was the last RAF Squadron to operate the 'Bucc', which was disbanded in 1994.

Louis Blériot, the first man to fly across the English Channel Louis Blériot was a French-born inventor and engineer who had invented and manufactured headlamps for motor cars. Profits from his business were invested in building aeroplanes and Blériot was the first to develop the stick and rudder system of controlling an aircraft. In 1909 he entered his monoplane into the Daily Mail Prize of flying across the English Channel. At sunrise of July 25th he took off from Les Baraques and made it to Dover in just over 23 minutes, making aviation history. This design has been given a deliberate aged and 'weathered' appearance.

Bristol Type 156 Beaufighter The Beaufighter was a heavy fighter and strike aircraft that came into service with the RAF in 1940 as a development of the Beaufort. It took on many roles including rocket-armed ground attack, torpedo bomber and night fighter. As well as the RAF the Beaufighter served with the Fleet Air Arm, RCAF, USAAF, RNZAF, SAAF, RAAF and the Free Polish Air Squadron.

Bear Hunter - Hoodie £45.00

Bear Hunter This hoodie has a striking design that captures the work of RAF Quick Reaction Alert Squadrons during the dark days of the Cold War. Using GCI (Ground Controlled Interception) Phantoms and Lightnings were scrambled to intercept Russian aircraft 'wandering' into UK airspace. The Tupolev Tu-95's or Bear's were often confronted by armed RAF fighters firing passive homing missiles. GCI has since been replaced with Airborne Early Warning and Control systems. These AEW aircraft patrol our UK skies as well as in overseas conflicts. The RAF Typhoon F2 now operates out of Lossiemouth and Coningsby still in the QRA - 'Bear Hunting' role.

Boeing AH-64 Apache The Apache was developed by Hughes Helicopters to replace the AH-1 Cobra in the mid-1970s and finally entered service with the U.S. Army in 1986 as an attack helicopter. Production continued with Boeing Defence, Space & Security and is now in operation with many countries including the UK, Japan and Singapore.

Alcock and Brown - Hoodie £45.00

The first Transatlantic flight of Alcock and Brown John Alcock was a military pilot during World War I and Arthur Whitten Brown was an engineer and pilot during the war. Both had been shot down and imprisoned by the Germans, during this time both resolved together to cross the Atlantic by air. After the war they both worked with Vickers to convert a Vimy to be able to undertake the long flight. On the 14th June both set off from Newfoundland. After 12 hours flying and poor weather, Alcock and Brown landed their aircraft in a bog near Clifden, County Galway in Ireland. This design has been given a deliberate aged and 'weathered' appearance.

Air Vice Marshall James Edgar Johnson Due to an earlier rugby injury Johnson's flying combat career didn't start until 1941 with air offensives over France including involvement with the Dieppe Raid, Operation Market Garden and DDay. This design celebrates Johnson as a Fighter Ace with 34 destroyed to his name, but he was part of the RAF that was served by many men and women who were all heroes.

Flight Lieutenant George Frederick Beurling Beurling eventually joined the RAF after trying to join the RCAF and Finnish Air Force. He became Canada's most famous fighter pilot, distinguishing himself in the defence of Malta. This design celebrates Beurling as a Fighter Ace with 31 destroyed to his name, but he was part of the RAF that was served by many men and women who were all heroes.
