“ The English Electric Lightning from dawn to dusk” Village Hotel, Farnborough: 23/02/16 Flyingraphics were lucky to be able to attend a talk by Air Vice-Marshall ( Retired ) George Black CB, OBE, AFC and his son Ian Black, who both shared their experiences flying the English Electric Lightning to a, filled to capacity auditorium. As a child I spent many hours leafing through books on aircraft, memorising the names and studying every detail whenever I could, very often under the bed covers with a torch when I should be blowing zeds at the ceiling. Christmas and birthdays inevitably yielded a new volume to add to the library.
